Callum Wilson's Future: West Ham Manager Drops Hints on Transfer Rumors (2026)

West Ham's Future of Callum Wilson Uncertain Amid Transfer Speculation

West Ham United's manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, addressed the future of Callum Wilson after the team's crucial victory over Tottenham Hotspur. The striker's future has been a topic of intense speculation, with rumors swirling about a potential departure from the London Stadium this month.

Wilson joined West Ham on a pay-as-you-play deal last summer after leaving Newcastle United. However, with the club's recent acquisition of Pablo and Taty Castellanos for a combined fee of nearly £50 million in the January transfer window, there has been speculation that Wilson might be on his way out.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a move to Everton, who are seeking to strengthen their center-forward options, as well as the Scottish giants Celtic. Despite his apparent surplus to requirements, Wilson was brought on as a late substitute for West Ham's match against Tottenham, where he scored the winning goal in the 93rd minute, securing a 2-1 victory and moving the team five points clear of the relegation zone.

After the game, Santo was asked about Wilson's future. In a response to BBC Sport, the Portuguese manager remained non-committal about Wilson's potential departure, stating, 'We are still in the market to bring players and rebalance our squad. Rumors, rumors, rumors. We are doing things properly.' He emphasized the importance of supporting and relying on the team's current players, saying, 'Every player that is in the building, I give them the day off tomorrow. It is up to us to count on them and support them. They need to help us, they need to help the club.'

When pressed about the fans' sentiment that Wilson should stay after his crucial goal, Santo humorously replied, 'And rightly so.'

Additionally, Everton is reportedly interested in signing Youssef En-Nesyri from Fenerbahce, with a potential loan deal on the table. The 28-year-old is set to be part of Morocco's squad for the African Cup of Nations final against Senegal. En-Nesyri's future is also attracting interest from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest and Serie A champions Napoli.
