The incident occurred on Saturday, with authorities releasing video footage of a person of interest, a 30-something unidentified male dressed in black, leaving the scene on foot. The shooting took place inside a classroom in the Barus and Holley engineering building, causing panic and chaos on campus. The Diocese of Providence called for prayers for the victims, the injured, and the Brown University community, while U.S. Secret Service Director Sean Curran offered support to the affected individuals. The hospital in Rhode Island confirmed receiving eight patients, with six in critical but stable condition, one in critical condition, and one in stable condition. The mayor of Providence, Brett Smiley, confirmed one additional victim, bringing the total number of injured to nine. The victims, all students except for the most recently identified individual, are receiving medical attention, and the investigation is ongoing with multiple law enforcement agencies, the FBI, and the ATF involved.
