Andhra Pradesh: A Global Investment Hub - Chandrababu Naidu's Davos Mission (2026)

Andhra Pradesh is making a bold move to become a global investment hub, and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is leading the charge! But is this ambitious goal achievable?

During his visit to Davos, Naidu revealed that Andhra Pradesh has implemented an impressive 25 new policies to foster industrial growth. He's actively seeking investments in cutting-edge sectors like digital media and virtual production, which is a game-changer for the region's economy. This strategy aims to create a thriving environment for businesses and investors alike.

On the first day of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Naidu's agenda was packed with meetings. He discussed potential Swiss investments with Ambassador Mridul Kumar, focusing on industries such as pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and electronics. Naidu emphasized the state's commitment to skill development, ensuring a talented workforce to meet global demands.

Here's where it gets exciting: Naidu is pushing for investments in AI-driven industries, creative sectors, and entrepreneurship. He met with Kishore Lulla of Eros Innovations to explore opportunities in AI, gaming, and film technology. Eros Innovations has ambitious plans, including an AI-powered Film City and virtual reality tourism experiences, which could put Andhra Pradesh on the map for tech enthusiasts.

Naidu's message to the Telugu diaspora was powerful: he encouraged them to embrace entrepreneurship, offering a Rs 50-crore fund and support through the Rata Tata Innovation Hub. He highlighted the state's research center in Tirupati and its goal to attract a staggering Rs 22 lakh crore in investments, creating 20 lakh jobs. But is this a realistic expectation, or a lofty dream?

On January 20, Naidu showcased Andhra Pradesh's success at a CII-organized event, highlighting its ability to attract a significant portion of India's investments. Google's AI data center and Green Ammonia projects are just the beginning. Naidu believes India is the top destination for foreign investments, predicting it will become the world's third-largest economy in two years and the top economy by 2047.

Naidu's focus on entrepreneurship is evident through his 'one family-one entrepreneur' policy. He's fostering collaborations with tech giants like IBM and Google to train youth in AI and cybersecurity. But will these partnerships deliver on their promises?

The tourism sector is also in Naidu's sights. He sees immense potential in river cruise tourism on the Godavari and various other destinations. To tap into this, he met with Calibo AI Academy to train youth in AI and establish a Center of Excellence. The steel industry is also getting a boost, with the Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel Plant's foundation being laid soon.

Naidu's whirlwind tour included meetings with global leaders and discussions with Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran on diverse projects. But will these efforts translate into Andhra Pradesh becoming a global brand? The world is watching and waiting to see the outcome of this ambitious vision.
